The MP3 Music Awards were established in 2007 by Roger Mark Clavier (RMC), a British business entrepreneur with deep roots in the music industry. Operating under the tagline "MP3 The File Sharing Format Of Choice," the awards emerged during a pivotal moment when digital downloads and MP3 technology were revolutionizing how the world consumed music.

MP3 Music Awards domain names http://www.mp3musicawards.co.uk and http://www.mp3awards.co.uk, were registered on 2nd November 2006 with streamline who were recognised as the UK's leading online providers. Streamline.Net was acquired by Fasthosts on May 30, 2008.
